Welcome! I’m Dr. Tyler Vasconcellos.
Here are a few things you might want to know about my qualifications and therapeutic style.
B.A. in Psychology - Summa Cum Laude - University of California, San Diego (UCSD)
Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology - The Wright Institute - Berkeley, CA
Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) - The Wright Institute - Berkeley, CA
As a rule, I bring my sharp clinical expertise and my full personal engagement to each and every session. Former patients have said that I’m “easy to talk to… straightforward… [and] compassionate.” I’m not a clichéd, indirect, or passive therapist who sits there and says nothing most of the time; nor do I try to ‘correct’ your supposedly ‘irrational’ thought patterns or sell you on how to ‘cure’ or ‘fix’ yourself in 10 sessions or less.
Instead, I’ll skillfully prompt you to open up and gradually confront your fears. In a conversational manner, I’ll offer my observations and help you begin to think about your life in new and (sometimes) challenging ways. My central role as your therapist is to help you arrive at new ways of addressing the issues you’ve been facing through a process of experiential self-discovery. Over the course of therapy, I’ll help you to identify what you’re feeling and why, as well as to more effectively work through anything that’s stopping you from living a more complete, meaningful life… whatever that means to you!
